Vice President of Diagnostic Services
From an early age Leann knew that she desired a career in healthcare. She began her journey earning a Master’s in Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies in Chicago. Upon graduation, she worked as a Physician Assistant (PA) for 12 years at an internal medicine private practice in the Chicago suburbs. Her daily responsibilities included seeing patients in clinic, morning and evening hospital rounds, and supervising all billing activities. Her passion for emergency medicine and critical care led to a 5-year career as a PA for a Chicago hospital emergency department. During her hospital tenure, she gained experience supporting the neurological floor, where she developed an interest in epilepsy and stroke. Leann shifted her career focus from hands-on patient care to Clinical Director for a start-up EEG and Sleep company where she contributed to all facets of billing and daily operations. Her growing passion for neurology led her to a regional director position with SleepMed Inc., where she managed 4 neurology product lines in a 5-state region including multiple IDTF’s and hospital Sleep/EEG Labs. Leann’s continued interest in epilepsy and EEG took her to another start-up specializing in ambulatory Video EEG. During her tenure in the epilepsy and EEG community, Leann learned about Brain Sentinel’s innovative technology using surface electromyography as a biomarker for seizure events. She joined Brain Sentinel’s IDTF in 2017 as VP of Diagnostic Services and Clinical Director. Under her leadership, Leann and her team achieved IDTF Accreditation/Certification by The Joint Commission. Leann manages a team of Patient Support Technicians who support patients and caregivers throughout the prescribing monitoring duration, and sEMG trained technologists who clip and prune all sEMG and audio data on captured events.
